just found out the watermain near us burst, and is being repaired now, as all water has gone off. could this have affected it last night? if it was in the process of bursting?
we have a megaflow cl148 cylinder and attatched is a grounfos alpha pump. all last night the pump was making a rythmic pumping noise spo loud it could be heard outside the back door of the house. which finally stopped at 08.30am 10 hours after startiing. it's in the airing cupboard, so we...
I have a Leisure Alta cooker. yesterday I switched the grill on and hte light came on momentarily, then went off. and the grill stopped working.

Hi There. We recently moved into a house which had an old-ish mira excel shower off white plastic controls?, we had the central heating changed to a combi boiler, and the plumber said he'd re=pressured teh shower.

Firstly the property is in scotland so does not have or require a HIP. We have a different system up here The vendor is someone selling due to debts so would not have the money to have it done, and was reluctant to reduce the price. So we withdrew.

Hi Agile.
we've withdrawn from the sale as it's just going to cost too much, and we don't know what else will turn up.
We phoned the la for the asbestos register, and the scientist in charge offered to do the survey, as he's currently doing major work on the register. he's now given us a...
The district council's analysis has come back, adn it states the cement sheet present contains Chrysotile (white) amosite (brown) and crococilite (blue)
The lagging he also found contains Chrysotile.
A little more dangerous than we thought. the cement sheet is also broken and "fiborus"
AS this house is ex local authority. should they not have removed asbestos whilst it was under their remit so to speak. it's only been privately owned for 2 years?
We are about to buy a house, and the surveyor found the remains of a duct or pipe that must've led to a boiler. He is sure it's asbestos, but has been broken. So wouldn't go near it.
Anyone got any ideas of costs and problems in removing this item?
We are thinking of buying a property. however the homebuyers report, has discovered asbestos in the cement boiler in the roof space. would this have to be removed, or is it safe enough to leave alone.
also the house is something called "blackburn perm block" anyone shed any ideas on this one?

I do have a light fitting, and know how to cable it to the switch, but What is best practice for cabling to the mains?
