Mira Excel shower wont go off properly

Hi There. We recently moved into a house which had an old-ish mira excel shower off white plastic controls?, we had the central heating changed to a combi boiler, and the plumber said he'd re=pressured teh shower.
However now it will not turn off, unless it is constantly turned full on, then straight back to off again. can take 15-20 minutes to get it to go off, it seems the hot side is leaking. Can it be fixed by me? as plumber says you can;t get "big washers" for these any more. I think he;s trying to sell me a new shower.

You need a high pressure cartridge or on the older models the cartridge can be set to high or low pressure by turning a valve on the back of the valve.

Great mixer BTW and will last for years. I looked at a Mira 722 tonight which is about 30 year old and is still going strong, 722 is the forerunner of the Excel.
