mixing problems with new bath/shower taps

Looking around, people suggest that the new install might be with narrower tails: I'll have to check with the plumber but does that sound possible? Or the lack of an aerator? Either of these sound plausible? Or any other suggestions? Ta

mixing problems with new bath/shower taps

I've just had new bath taps with a shower hose fitted. Tenants report they can only get fully hot or cold, nothing between. It shouldn't be a boiler issue as the only thing changed is the taps. The old ones were just old and ugly and stiff changing from bath to shower, but the mixing worked...

    Tripping oddness

thanks no I hadn't unplugged, just turned the sockets off. I'll hop to it. Nice relaxing fathers' day. Better turn the PC off first too. They don't like it when you whip the leccie out from under them, do they.

    Tripping oddness

Hello Sparkies, I've got a problem that's beyond my pay grade. The power tripped, I checked, the RCD had tripped. After trying and failing to reset, I turned all toggles on the main board off, turned on the main switch, then the RCD, then all the others in turn. Isolated it to upstairs...

    drain points

when I open both the drain points water flows out of both, so hard to know which is which. Flow is better, steadier from the RH point so I was planning to flush and fill through that one. Any suggestions? ta

    drain points

There are two white drain taps outside my house for the CH. Why two? What's the diff between one and the other? Can I use these to refill the system when I'm done cleaning it out? ta

    temp racing up on worcester

ta no answer i know, but looks like standard copper rad piping. had an engineer - wasn't listening - he kept poking at the boiler, that he wasn't really familiar with, but boiler works - on hw it's fine, ch is the prob. I thought the prob was sludge but now when i drain it comes out pretty...

    temp racing up on worcester

Doesn't get any simpler this heating lark does it? One more odd thing started to happen. Usually, once you get a bit of heat in a rad, the air expands so it's keener to bleed out than without the heat. Now, on the three most distant upstairs rads, they all have some water and heat down at the...

    temp racing up on worcester

If anybody can be bothered reading back through the thread, here's where I'm up to. Had sludge remover in over xmas, cleaned it out today, filled and drained twice, liquid running sometimes very pale brown, later more or less clear, though I have two outside drain taps, don't know diff, but...

    temp racing up on worcester

just drained again, filled with sludge budger, once it's filled again it's staying there until 2010, 10mph boiler or not. Happy Christmas and NY and thanks for all the advice.

    temp racing up on worcester

thanks yes checked the pump, some bits of muck in there but nothing drastic, turning ok. Problem still mystfying though. Drained again, emptied header tank completely, cleaned out, all the sludge gone. Refilled, did a test fill and drain again, running through clear (but I have two drain taps...

    temp racing up on worcester

And one more puzzle: when I was cleaning gunk out of the header tank that'd come through the header overflow, it was all pretty gravelly, and much of it was bright green. Is this some copper-related thing?

    temp racing up on worcester

thanks guys helps to understand the ins and outs a bit better. After two days with Sentinel in there, hopefully loosening and moving the sludge a bit, just drained (again) fingers crossed for better circulation this time.

    temp racing up on worcester

Ta if i replace the cold fill, is that right back to where it picks it up from the mains? how would that get blocked - wouldn't that be out of the loop for rad sludge? cos each time i drain, the stuff out of the drain points is really disgusting foul brown muck - and the heat pattern on some...

    temp racing up on worcester

This doesn't get any simpler. Been slowly bleeding the air out for about two hours now, boiler(worcester bosch 30cdi) keeps showing the symbol for syphon fill program which puts it on min output for 15mins. Is that significant? If so, what does it signify?) Still most of the time the stat is...
