    Painting a new door.

 where did he serve time  Growler have you ever done it? and are you saying that a silk covered door will stand up to a traditionaly painted door in terms of quality of finish and durability. Its plain wrong and I dont care how many mates you got in their 60's that do it :roll...

Cut in lines around wall edges

another posible reason and more than likely is you will apply paint much thicker with a brush than you will a roller. what I think you are seeing is it looks darker on the cutting in cos its thicker and has covered better. Give all another coat and it will look much better I'm sure.

    Ceiling dried damp patch

Hi, Cure damp fault first, once cured no emulsion will cover the brown stain (it'll keep coming back) so when damp stain is dry cover with Zinser bin, or dampseal or damp seal aerosol or failing all that oil base undercoat in white or oil base gloss in white. When dry emulsion as normal. Job...

    Painting a new door.

As i said danzx2 I meant nothing by it and asked out of curiosity only and had you really have been in the trade 30 years then my answer would not have been so polite and you would have started a whole diff techy type thread   The results that you get with silk may be fine and look...

    Painting a new door.

the mould cure was down to you fitting a new grill not the paint trust me. yes you will need to prime all bare wood. as for the mask what are you using water based or oil base. If you want one that is going to block vapours from a solvent based paint then a decent one aint arf pricey...

    Painting a new door.

   what can I say to that  first decide what finish you require ie gloss or eggshell. the doors described should be pre primed and unless you have cut the doors down to fit them and exposed bare wood then you should not need to prime. My way of doing it is to...

    Painting on Lining Paper

what you used sounds like flat matt emulsion. Try a trade vinyl matt emulsion in Dulux or crown etc. This will give you some degree of wipeability. You can also try Dulux Diamond Matt this is quite pricy and can be a bit of a mare to apply first time around. It is very good and you can wash the...

    wallpapering

gotta strip the vinyl mate. Its should be really easy, peel the vinyl and this will leave the backing paper, give that a good soak with water and it will come off very easy. 1700 grade paper is for pretty bad walls so do you really need that? I personally use 1200 grade on everything but thats...

    How to terminate coving?

I'll try and explain although i am not promising you will understand it (that will be my fault not yours  ) cut the coving where you want it to end as per an exterior corner mitre cut. Cut another piece as per the return for an exterior corner cut. trim this piece flush with the back...

    worried....you should be

we've had that conversation before Zamps and your points are well known in the scheme as they are the same as ours. Things had been looking up in recent years and as i said before the panel members themselves assess all new applicants now so the dross was being weeded out. I just cannot believe...

    weird customers

Few years back snagged a new build ( only the H/S/L) caulk and paint for a builder mate. Phoned, client seemed really nice made appointment and turned up. Knocked on door no answer, saw curtain twitching so I waved and showed her my paint kettle and brush. She went mental and was running around...
