    CH conundrum.

Traditionally it's been at the mid point - in other words the narrow point of the grey pointer on your picture above has been pointing left (west) and in that position the heating has seemed perfectly adequate. I have though in these last weeks turned it clockwise to the point the one in your...

    CH conundrum.

Hello John, Many thanks for your response. Yes it's a vented type system with a small feed and expansion tank in the loft. You've also got the type of pump correct too - I've checked the manufactured date and it's 0515 so built 2005. Please see a picture of the installation looks like...

    CH conundrum.

Hello to all, hope you can help. We've an oil fueled Potterton central heating system, with two zone valves opened by Drayton ZA5 actuators, (one for CH, one for HW) and controlled by a Danfoss Lifestyle LP522 controller and Grundfoss Alpha+ pump. In the last months and very occasionally we've...

Changing and old two switch light switch.

Thank you to everyone - now understand, particularly the significance of the dividing line and having to swap top to bottom for each actual switch. Thanks again.

Changing and old two switch light switch.

Hi, Small query about doing the above from an amateur. The switch located in the hall controls one hall light and the kitchen light it's plastic and has two rocker switches. I was hoping to just be able to swop the wires directly from old to new - but the new switch terminals are labelled...

    Pump not switching off ?

Ian, Thank you for providing precise advice that this amateur can understand - it looks like the overrun sensor is the culprit. David.

    Pump not switching off ?

Ian, Thank you - - - I've investigated the boiler details and there is a pump overrun thermostat built into it. Is that what I should look at ? David.

    Pump not switching off ?

The pump has one cable - to a mains point on the wall. This mains point has a cable from it to a junction box further up the wall. The junction box also has cables from both zone valves, the wireless controller and timeswitch going to it - so without taking the cover off the mains point or...

    Pump not switching off ?

Thank you. Does that mean the electric supply from the actuator zone valve to the pump is staying live for some reason - whilst the supply to the boiler is switching off as it should ? Is it something I can check with a multimeter and how do I do it ? David.

What primer and paint for a stripped metal garage door.

Thanks for the response - - that's the primer sorted - is there a specialist type of undercoat and topcoat I should use for these metal doors - or is it just go down to Homebase or B&Q for an exterior undercoat and topcoat and use a typical brand like Dulux ?

What primer and paint for a stripped metal garage door.

Perhaps should have asked this with my other post about stripping the doors but can anyone point me in the direction of a good quality and effective primer and top coat paint to use on completely stripped aluminium garage doors. Are there specific primers and top coat paints to be used for...

Stripping old style horizontal ribbed garage doors

Having a devil of a game getting many years of old paint off our good in all other respects metal up and over garage doors. To make it more difficult they have horizontal ribs and narrow panels so there's lots of nice recesses for the paint to hide in. I've tried some off the shelf tripper...
