Test the HDD using "Seatools" - it will soon give you the answer :)

If the connectors are good and you know the PSU is also good then it will very likely be a motherboard. As its prebuilt by a large system integrator it will almost certainly have a specific motherboard which you wont be able to fund other than from HP and will cost 10 times more than it should...
