Ventilation at abutment on lean to roof

Evening guys, I'm building a lean to roof and I need to provide 5mm continuous air-flow (in line with building regs) but I'm struggling to find something suitable at a reasonable price. The flash vents are expensive (such as...

2 rads downstairs cold after flushing

Good guys, Had a leaking drain valve on my open-vented CH system so I drained it, replaced the faulty drain valve but now 2 of the 3 rads downstairs are cold. Assuming it was a balancing issue I turned off all other rads but no improvements. Then thinking it must be blocked I refilled the...

    New toilet, cistern overflowing...

Thanks for your reply, it's definitely not stopping after a few seconds when pushed up by the water or by hand. As for the hinged part of the arm is seems to move freely and was already situated in the cistern out of the box... Thanks again for all your replies

    New toilet, cistern overflowing...

Thanks for your reply, I tried this and it had no impact. The water flow is affected but either the height of the flow or whether it's up or down (even when adjusted by hand to try and stop the flow). Perhaps I should replace the valve? Just seems strange as its brand new...

Insulation in roof rafters - brand and thickness?

Yes I'd so say. As per my original post is there recommended brand and thickness?

    New toilet, cistern overflowing...

It looks similar but the valve is completed independent, looks like this: http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Plumbing/Toilet+Fittings/Torbeck+Adjustable+Compact+Valve+Bottom+Entry/d20/sd2835/p37311 The valve moves up when the water gets to it but the flow rate doesn't decrease. If I hold the...

Insulation in roof rafters - brand and thickness?

Is this really true? I thought that compressing insulation under the boards would make it less efficient? I'm happy to insulated both in an attempt to keep the heat inside my house!

Insulation in roof rafters - brand and thickness?

On closer inspection there is a thin layer on insulation currently in the rafters with an air gap then felt before the tiles. I assume I can just add more in the rafters then?

    New toilet, cistern overflowing...

Evening all, Fitted a new toilet today but when we turn the water on the valve doesn't stop when it gets full so it keeps filling then going down the overflow. It's a modern type with a half flush feature but had no instructions in the box so assumed I didn't need to adjust anything on...

Insulation in roof rafters - brand and thickness?

http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Celotex+Insulation+Board+/p10635 Evening all, Need to insulate my loft, already boarded out between joists so needs to be in the rafters. Just looking for recommendations on brands and thicknesses? Currently no insulation in loft (shocking I know)...

Mixer tap, no cold water - pipes not blocked...

Evening all, Attempted to fix my kitchen mixer tap today as I've not longer got cold water (hot water works perfectly). Was hoping the flexi hose was blocked but removed it all today and it's perfectly clean (sadly). I stripped the tap down as much as I could but couldn't find any...

An I see now, I like your idea of an externally mounted earth block, is there one that you would recommend I purchase?

    WB 24i Junior losing pressure...

Thanks for your reply. I'll run round tomorrow and attach tissue paper to the rads to see if I can find it. Perhaps I'll put something under the PRV to catch the output (assuming there is any...). If its not leaking nor outputting thru the PRV what else could it be?

Connecting gas bonding cable to old consumer unit (pictured)

Thanks both and I agree, I'll open the cover and assess the situation, any idea how much I should expect to pay if I have to get a sparky in? Sparks ever want danger money?!?

Connecting gas bonding cable to old consumer unit (pictured)

Evening, I'd agree with not bothering if we didn't need a gas safety inspection as foster carers and it was an advisor last year and therefore a requirement this year!
