Thanks for you replies
I am going to use an auger to drill a couple of holes and fill with pea gravel just aid with any drainage
Other than that i am think of usings two layers of DPM one from under the insulation and the other from under the slab itself and wrapping up the outside of the...
I'de rather not go through the hassle plus, i have most of the materials and machinery needed already. Also just due to the position and neighbours i am sure they will shoot down the idea
Hey all,
I am looking at building a garden room - I have the overall plan and materials sorted however i know there is 2.5m height restriction with these things
I am trying to maximise the headroom and also have a warm roof construction rather than a cold roof
My idea is to dig down and build...
Do you not think it will be quite cold in there? That video above was just block and plasterboard.
Might it be a better idea just to make it all from PIR and timber?
Not sure why it would be higher - but it would be a case of digging it all out down to a height where you can insulate and pour concrete on top - or dig down enough to build a sub floor.
i think the regulations are 100mm insulation and 100mm concrete - so if you dig down 270 and you have a good...
So just make sure you are buying the right thing leading/trailing edge for your lights
Then do the math - 18x 4.8w = 86.4w so you can use a 120w dimmer
Try varilight they are usually good
So i am looking to construct a small garden room 2.5x3m external size - 2.5m height
I was just going to lay and insulated slab and construct a timber frame but I have a bunch of thermalite blocks leftover from our recent extension so want put those to good use. Then baton the wall and use PIR...
@^woody^ Why would it need to be as deep - if i was making it out of timber i would just make a solid concrete base
A single skim of thermalite isn't going to need the same as full extension is it?
Hey guys,
So thinking about building a garden room - iw as planning on just making it from timber and insulation board on a concrete slab, however i have a bunch of themalite blocks leftover from our extension
As they are so light and will be holding the same load as if it was just made from...
Hey guys
I am at the roof stage with my extension - Roof joists are in and i am just after some advice about how the warm roof terminates into the gutter and how it goes across the wall thresh hold
I have put some images together of my thoughts, maybe they will all work but just wanted some...
Yeah the steel beam is probably overkill it's 254x102x22 beam so will be fine. BC is happy with it going on the steal or the timber
Timers 2x8s and the the room is 3.05m by 3.9m so it's not a massive span
