Wiring Up My Shed, well starting to think about it.

I’m just about finished with my shed / man cave, and will at some point soon be needing it all wired up. My plan is to put in the circuits, mount the socket boxes / lights and consumer u it’s, run the cables myself, then have the local electrician in the village connect it all up. From the...

    Running a 4 kW motor

Doing a bit of googling 220V 3 phase is found in US in smaller domestic applications. It’s a big country so I imagine there could be a lot.

    Running a 4 kW motor

Looking into pricing up the two paths I have, getting a 230/400 3 phase for around £200 and another £200 at least for the inverter drive, with the benefit of good speed control etc, or an equivalent single phase motor for around £300, with the correct breaker and cable ( which would need to go...

    Running a 4 kW motor

In the US there is apparently a few different 3 phase ratings, but 230ish seems to be quite common. I’d imagine that would be a big enough market for them. Particularly as they are for the smaller stuff.

    Running a 4 kW motor

I’ve seen a couple of used 230/400 motors on eBay for about £175, which I would guess would work.

    Running a 4 kW motor

I think the US has something like that, 220 or so as 3 phase, 110 single.

    Running a 4 kW motor

The compressor is for diving and I bought it to last me the next 20 odd years. It’s actually quieter then the little plug in sewing machine sounding smaller compressor I have. There’s probably around 4 metres from the main box through the wall into the garage. From looking into it in the past...

    Running a 4 kW motor

The compressor is for diving and I bought it to last me the next 20 odd years. It’s actually quieter then the little plug in sewing machine sounding smaller compressor I have, which itself isn’t too obtrusive, and the garage is away from any neighbours. There’s probably around 4 metres from the...

How many of you shop at Reichelt?

I’ve bought programmable TRVs from them at really good prices, a couple of times with no problem

    Running a 4 kW motor

I have a hp compressor equipped with a 4kW/5.5 HP 3 phase motor. Where I used to live (Indonesia) Inhad 3 phase to the garage, but not any longer. In my house now, I am wanting to run it again, and am thinking of my options with only a single phase supply. While wiring up my new kitchen, I...

    Cold radiator at bottom

I put some system cleaner stuff in for a couple of month and it seemed to make a difference, but in the end pulled off the radiator and flushed it

Does a wireless TRV bring the boiler on?

In the UK apparently it doesn’t. As I understand, in Holland you can get a board that lets you use opentherm, but in the UK it isn’t supported, so you need their own control

Does a wireless TRV bring the boiler on?

I’ve just had a new boiler installed, Vaillant, and am controlling it with a NEST currently. While it was a big step up from the simple mechanical timer we had before, it’s actually pretty basic and just lets us set the times etc. that we want the boiler on. Unfortunately Vaillant have kind of...

    Fitting NEST

If you replaced the timer, maybe the thermostat is wired in between the heat link and the boiler now? Maybe trace the CH wire from the heat link to the the boiler and see if anything if wired into it.
