    Small bathroom tiling

Hey, We have a small bathroom, approx 1350mm x 2450mm which we are going to tile with tiles sized 360mm x 275mm. I'm looking for advice on what might look better either half tiled or fully tiled? I want to do a brick type pattern. Can anybody offer any thoughts/tips? Thanks

    understanding secondary hot water returns

excellent, I thought that might be the case. The link provided is great and I will have a more in depth look into costs etc. However cant balancing be done via gate valves/lockshields etc as I have seen multiple heating systems done this way? My additional question now you have kindly...

    understanding secondary hot water returns

hey again guys. Wanted to revive this for further advice a bit Should this secondary return be "balanced" on a long run? The secondary loop appears to be working but it is only hot to the first drop point, then not far after this its cold. Also rather than the flow and return joining...

    soldering and water in pipes

hey guys. I know this can't be done and I am sick of coming across isolating valves that pass preventing me from soldering. I have heard of the old bread trick but not tried as yet but I have recently come across this anybody tried or know of them? You stick them in and when finished...

    understanding secondary hot water returns

how far do you go though here then?? Changing the taps is effectively working on the unvented system so can I not even do this now??? What about general maintenance such as draining down to clean etc??

    understanding secondary hot water returns

Nope. Yeah my bad, I should have wrote circulator. The pipe is hot behind the pump but as there is no check valve after the pump and I was wondering if it could be the actual tank back feeding past the pump, if you know what I mean? I have seen a setup in the past of a vented system where...

    understanding secondary hot water returns

hey guys, I have been asked to investigate a problem where a lengthy run is taking nearly 5 mins to have sufficient hot water out of the tap. The system is unvented and has a secondary return with a pump on the return just before it re-enters the cylinder. The pump is an old BOSS brand and...

    removing wallpaper paste

Is there a way to determine if all of the paste has gone? I believe I have done a good job and used a steamer and scraper however I dont want to go to the bother of painting if I am missing something obvious? Some areas appear shiny, yet smooth and I know I went over that area. thanks

    How to re-wire electronic ballast

have you replaced the tubes? I find old tubes that are starting to fail will initially strike but then fail as they warm up. I believe the ballast detects a failing lamp and shuts down rather than attempt to continuously restrike

    Sanding gloss woodwork

so having small shiny patches is OK? It looks quite patchy as the old paint appears to be quite uneven and to get every square inch shine free would be nightmare

    Sanding gloss woodwork

Thanks for the advice I thought you had to sand the shine off the gloss to allow a half decent chance of any undercoat to adhere for a decent finish of top coat?
