Repair and painting for bathroom ceiling following condensation mould

Hi all, I hope that you are well, I'm new to the forum and a relative DIY noob so I thought I would ask for a bit of advice please. I originally posted this in DIY but someone suggested I post it here. We've had a patch of black mould appear along one side of the en-suite bathroom ceiling...

    Condensation mould on Bathroom Ceiling

Here is a better view of the fan. Also did anyone have any feedback on all of the questions I asked in my project plan please? Thanks again for the support.

    Condensation mould on Bathroom Ceiling

Thank you... this all makes sense to me. I will have a look at the insulation aspect... although as this is the external wall and area above the window frame no less it's probably always going to be a bit colder than the rest of the room especially if the window has been open recently. May be...

    Condensation mould on Bathroom Ceiling

Forgive me, mould was black mould on an internal bathroom surface following a logical steam path. It’s a small fully-tiled en-suite that sees a lot of moisture (my wife has very long thick hair that takes a while to wash and condition etc). What would this have to do with disrupted roof...

    Condensation mould on Bathroom Ceiling

Ceiling by daveforever posted 28 Jan 2021 at 2:44 PM It’s been cleaned off now but it wasn’t too bad. Along the edge nearest the window where the ceiling meets the tiles. Where it had been cleaned off there is a small amount of paint lifted. Concerned that more could lift if not treated. it’s...

    Condensation mould on Bathroom Ceiling

Thank you for the reply. I’d be surprised if that is the issue, it’s been a good 7-8 years since the ceiling would have been originally painted and the en suite shower gets a lot of use. Is this abnormal? It’s a vent-axia unit and it seems to turn on fine.

Hi all, I hope that you are well, I'm new to the forum and a relative DIY noob so I thought I would ask for a bit of advice please. We've had a patch of black mould appear along one side of the en-suite bathroom ceiling. I've doused all the surfaces in the bathroom with mould killer (Cillit...

    Any Telegram Messenger Fans?

I've not tried Telegram although I don't like that Whatsapp is tied to my mobile number which makes it very difficult to separate work/personal stuff. I'm hearing a lot of people talking about Signal app on social media at the moment.

    Graphics cards minefield, 5700XT v’s RTX3060?

It's a resolution decision really. If you're the kind of person who rocks a 24" 1080p 60fps £100 monitor the 3070 may be a bit of a waste. Some people care more or less about peripherals so it's a personal choice. I'd say go 3060Ti for 1080p at your budget, consider spending a little bit more...

    Internet providers

The simple reason is they are unable to support third party hardware or provide diagnostics. Consumer ISPs work very much on a stack-em-high-sell-em-cheap cookie cutter model for their service provision. What complicates matters somewhat is if a problem is actually due to on-premises equipment...

    Windows XP

The Adobe-related video issue is likely to be related to Adobe Flash which is now discontinued. Most sites will have moved towards HTML5 etc for delivering video. That said, Windows XP is no longer even supported by modern browsers e.g. Google Chrome, Firefox etc. Unfortunately your operating...

    Securely wipe laptop

I'd say Ccleaner free space erase with 3 or 7 passes (preferable) is the best option I can think of for leaving current OS/Office/Norton intact. The preferable method would be a full disk erasure using DBAN (or Killdisk which I use at work) to the old DoD 3-pass standards or better. That would...

Moving from Sky to Sky Freesat

We did find that the sky cables plugged in to our Samsung TV (which had a digital tuner built in) did work once we had cancelled Sky. It also had built-in recording capability to a USB drive. Your best bet to get a Freesat-centric menu/OS and built-in recording is going to be to purchase a...
