Which sand for UFH biscuit mix?

Thanks for the comments. In the end I decided to a mix - 4 sharp, 4 soft and 1 cement. Have finished the top floor and can't finish the UFH to the kitchen as around 150 bags of Monocouche render are stacked there! Soft sand gone now, so I will see what's around when I can get to finish the job!

    Whole house heat recovery

I was just about to post the same question as you so I wondered how you got on? I have floors up, are changing the internal layout, stud walls to build etc so it makes sense to put in ducting as I go along. Any advice?

    Bourne Seal for slate tiles

We have always used Bourne Seal to seal slate tiles (rustic looking tiles we buy from Wickes) and it gives a very hard wearing high gloss finish that lasts for years. It was a solvent based product mainly used for sealing wood or concrete. We have just discovered Cuprinol have stopped making it...

    Alternative soundproofing materials

I have read on soundproofing suppliers websites that their accoustic mineral wool (for laying under the floorboards) is twice as effective as ordinary loft insulation. As loft insulation is so much cheaper, with many DIY stores offering big discounts, what's to stop me putting in two layers of...
