Ok thank you! Can the underlay be laid in the same direction as the carpet or does it have to be at right angles? Do I just staple the perimeter of the underlay or does it need fixing all over? kind regards Davey

Yes I bet! I’m wary of crimping so I was going to use a Cat5e socket at each end (with punch down connectors) and a couple of short patch leads. Does that sound ok?
