Hi mike. Personally I would try and use 12mm boards as they wont bend as much, with the shape of the uneven ceiling. However first remove any screws that are not proud, as they cant be in the joists. Fill any gaps with bonding. if any of the boards are damaged/flapping down, then remove...

All u need is a bit of gaffer tape, never in 3 years had a fall! Just tape all joins together and to the skirting.

Is it a air vent hole or just a crater like hole. Air vent (if not needed) try and wedge some plasterboard in flush, and skim over. overwise just bond/hardwall your hole, pva and skim

I always use Wickes PVA, £9.99. I just use transfer half to a old tub, and mix with water, give it a good shake, transfer to a painters tubs, and roll on my walls. Job done!

Use them all the time. The best things you will ever buy, and invest in. Marshalltown have just brought out some great looking stilts for this year, very jealous. :x

From experience skimming old boards does seem to set the plaster much faster. I would either pva many coats on the old boards or personally just over board the existing and skim. Much cleaner than pulling down the old boards. Good Luck.

Fred, cheers for your reply. that would be easy if it was skimming, where i know i can skim say 200 sq m on board in a week. but with rendering as i have not attempted it before, not sure on time scales so need to work on a sq m price. So if anyone can answer i Would most appreiate it.
