Problem crack between wood and brick

I actually tried this, using mesh and skimming over it, with joint compound but it didn’t adhere to the wall particularly well. Maybe I should try this again

Problem crack between wood and brick

Hello, I have this long crack that runs around the perimeter of a pre-existing door that had been covered up before my time here. It’s seems wooden panels (I assume ply) have been placed in the space and is quite hollow, and not entirely flat. I’m repainting this wall and would really like to...

    Kitchen sink tap stuck

Hi, I’ve fixed one bathroom tap by removing the handle but had trouble doing so on a couple of others. I gave up on one and replaced the entire faucet, but I would like to salvage the kitchen faucet if possible. I’ve been able to remove the nut within the tap handle, but the handle is still...

    Basin mixer installation

Hi, I have bought a new mixer tap for my bathroom basin to install. The flexi hoses come with 3/8 connections and I have an isolation valve to connect to. It’s too large however and I believe I’ll need an adaptor and nut and olive to get these to marry up. The things is it looks like. 3/4 inch...

Blending inbuilt wardrobe to chimney breast

Thanks. It’s not too late to put plasterboard in, the ply hasn’t been attached yet. I could potentially push the ply deeper a use it as backing for plasterboard. I’m hoping having a couple of mm of caulk might buffer any cracking. Could be kidding myself tho.

Blending inbuilt wardrobe to chimney breast

I’m installing some ikea wardrobes so they are built into the chimney alcoves and I’d like a seamless transition between wall and wardrobe. I’ve cut some pieces of thick ply to fit in the space between the chimney breast ( yet to be secured) and wardrobes for a base to build upon but I’m not...

    Identify cables for removal

Hello. I just wanted to double check here. I have these cables running thru the house upstairs, pretty sure they’re old phone cables and I can rip them out and the boxes Is this correct? Any particular way I should terminate these cables? Thanks

    Filling a mystery vent.

Hi We have a mold problem in a kitchen cupboard. The cupboard is suspended, in the corner of the room against an outside wall. I was about to install a little ventilation system to get some airflow thru but then remembered there’s a vent on the outside leading straight to the back of the...

    Remove grill from Mason radiator

Thanks for the responses. I ended up removing the whole thing (need to paint behind anyway). Still couldn’t budge it, so resorted to the hammer and piece of wood. The first split the pine I was using! Was stubborn but finally got it to shift. Thanks again!

    Remove grill from Mason radiator

Hi, does anyone here know how to get this grill out of this Myson rad? I want to clean and paint it, and can not for the life of me find a way to get it out. Ive watched a heap of vids and search here but nothing seems specific to this design. Ive got the clips off and tried to raise the side...

    Improving wall quality before painting

Hi, full disclosure. Ive never done any plastering, or indoor house painting and plan to do both for our home (Probably not all at once mind you). The question I have is regarding refining the wall surface before painting. Ive removed the majority of wall paper (still need to clean a little...
