Sorry another query on External/Shed wiring

Further to the above the builder has informed me that EDF will be moving the mains supply , meter etc next week so we should know what the earth is by then. Am I right in understanding that if the frame of the greenhouse is earthed to a PME system it can cause problems in that the PME is not...

Sorry another query on External/Shed wiring

Thanks for that. I am 95% sure it is PME , however when the contractor does the main house rewiring I will check this out. The existing 1957 wiring is a mystery  , There is a plywood panel with a large brass earth screw on it. Where the (bare) wires connected to it come from or go to...

Sorry another query on External/Shed wiring

We are having a complete rewire of the house done by a contractor. However he has got ahead of us and he is likely to be finished before I have got the shed and green house built. He will leave a blank on the main consumer unit for the shed/greenhouse supply and the builders will put in a...

any of you guys use nail varnish??

  that's how it happens. The first time is a 'mistake', you get to like it and now I bet you can't go down to the shop without the whole make up thing

    undermounted bath with teak deck

Doh!! I was wondering how to get access to the underside of the board. Like most things it is obvious when someone points it out.  Thanks Jason Denzil

    Your ideal customer??

I've promised the missus that on no account, never, never ever will I change my mind about anything and ask for it to be redone just because I didn't like it. That's why I'm asking a lot of questions at this stage before the work starts properly. I can understand the frustration of someone...

    Your ideal customer??

Hello there Softus, I'm assuming that this means that you've measured your static mains pressure and that this is the measured range. Yes, we had the pressure and flow measured by the water board because we thought we had low pressure. They gave us a certificate to say 2.8 bar pressure...

    check valves

Its called Dual Thermastore by Chelmer Heating. It is being installed with other work including full central heating changing from warm air to rads. The hot water will be same pressure as mains (about 2 - 2.8 bar). The builder just said we needed check valves and so had to have exposed...

any of you guys use nail varnish??

yes, I see what you mean. Tiles are only 7mm thick so it wont have to be too chunky. I wondered if the car paint or nail varnish was a recognised technique or just the architect having a Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen moment.

    check valves

Hello holty, that was what I wanted originally but the builder said that the pipes would have to come out of the wall quite a way below the basin so that there was room to fit one of these check (or maybe he meant isolation) valves in which case you would see some bendy pipework below the line...

    Your ideal customer??

Ah, the mysteries of the pressure flow :? :? I'm having something called the Dual Thermostore from Chelmer Heating which says it delivers hot water at mains pressure which is between 2 and 2.8bar depending on time of day. Am I right in thinking that I need "low pressure" taps and bath...

    undermounted bath with teak deck

I have found a joiner who will make a teak deck for the bath to be undermounted underneath. However they won't take the template or fit it. 1) how do I take a template (visions of creeping in the bath, pulling a piece of hardboard over myself and drawing a line round the rim from inside -...

any of you guys use nail varnish??

I'm going to have a wet room built where you can walk out of a doorway (but no actual door or door frame) into a dry area with toilet and basin. The wet area will be tiled floor to ceiling and the dry area emulsioned as it won't get wet. On the 'wet' side of the doorway I will have tiles...

    check valves

Lee-King: thanks for that link. Yes, that would look better than badly fitting tiles around the pipe. A bit of a trap for dust and all that gunge you get in bathrooms round the pipework though. Where does all that muck come from anyway??
