I have found a joiner who will make a teak deck for the bath to be undermounted underneath. However they won't take the template or fit it.

1) how do I take a template (visions of creeping in the bath, pulling a piece of hardboard over myself and drawing a line round the rim from inside - well perhaps a wee small person could do that, not me  )

2) if I get a framework built to support the deck how much of the weight should be borne by the bath itself. Surely if the deck floats above the bath with just the sealant in the joint and no downward pressure then this will give rise to leaks.

any obvious problems to look out for? Many thanks, Denzil

Set the bath in place then cut a sheet of 4-6mm MDF to the overall size you need, scribe to the walls as required.

Then rough cut a hole in the MDF 3-4" from where the actual cut out will be. This will allow you to trace round the shape of the bath on the underside of the MDF with a pointed tip marker pen, the overhang will be equal to hakf the diameter of the pen body so use one 20-25mm round. Cut to your line with a jigsaw and fine tune as required.

If your bath is adequatly supported then there should not bee too much movement betwen bath & timber.

Doh!! I was wondering how to get access to the underside of the board. Like most things it is obvious when someone points it out.

Thanks Jason
