How to repair crack in micromarble fireplace backpanel

Thanks both. Yeah - it's quite fine. We've got some reasonably color matched silicone and pushed that in which helps digsuise it, so it's not as dark as the plain crack. I guess we'll just have to make do with it and hope it doesn't propagate.

How to repair crack in micromarble fireplace backpanel

Hi, We have a fireplace around a gas fire and the white micromarble back panel now has a thin crack that starts at the corner of the cutout for the fire and runs for about 15 cms into the back panel. The panel is plain white with only light speckles in it so it's not like the crack is hidden in...

    Fridge freezer filter housing removal

Hi @jordy_boy or anyone else who might be able to help On the off-chance that you are still receiving updates from this thread, did you resolve the issue? I have exactly the same problem on a Whirlpool WSF5574A. The online videos of similar filter housing removal show the filter housing being...

Sealing round new double glazed windows

@KenGMac Here are two pictures. You'll see what I mean by the short sill as the stone sill is the "actual sill". I would be concerned that a big bead of brown mastik might be visible on the stone, unless it could be masked off somehow.

Loft Tank Overflow pipes into horizontal gutter

Many thanks all. I hadn't considered blockages in the gutter and the snow / freezing was a good point. The pipes were raised by about 6 inches, I guess (from halfway down the soffit to the top of the soffit/gutter). There's still an overall drop and it's well below the overflow connection to...

Loft Tank Overflow pipes into horizontal gutter

Hi, We've just had our soffits, facias and gutters replaced. Previously, the overflow/warning pipes for the central heating header tank and cold water tank for hot water in the loft came out of holes in the facia below the gutter. But for this installation, the installer decided it would look...

Sealing round new double glazed windows

Hi, We've just had some new double glazing windows fitted and they look great. They have sealed the left, top and right of the windows with brown sealant but, under the upvc window sill, if you get your head down there and look up, there's a bout a 2-3 mm gap between the bottom of the sill and...

Water dripping through bath tap holes

Just a quick follow up to say what I did to resolve my issue. So far, it's looking good. I trimmed down the lugs on the Split Kick washers so that they helped keep the tap centred as well as it could. So, I had tap, it's washer ring at the base, the bath, then the split kick, then the back nut...

Water dripping through bath tap holes

@terryplumb no worries. I'd thought about that, but the lugs cut back in at the base for some reason so it may lose the snugness. http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Plumbing/d20/Washers+%26+Fixings/sd2703/Split+Klick+Washer/p93139 But if I don't use them, then they are going to waste if I don't at...

Water dripping through bath tap holes

Thanks @John D v2.0 . I was thinking the same about creating a custom centraliser. I had a luck through my accumulated tub of spare parts and nothing jumped out, but I'm sure I could find something to fashion a centraliser. I'm thinking that I could get a washer the same size as the washer...

Water dripping through bath tap holes

Hi, I've fitted a metal Kaldewei bath with a Bristan Quest mixer tap. The tap holes were pre-drilled and the centres are fine. I tested the electric shower above and water leaked through the base of the tap and through the holes, onto the floor. The issue is that the holes in the bath are 35mm...

Hot Water Loft Tank Dip Tube Siphoning?

Many thanks for all your replies. Is "symphonic discharge" a designed thing to purposefully discharge as fast as possible? I'd be concerned about drilling a hole in the top of it to prevent it. If it's supposed to siphon, then I wouldn't want to prevent that. I guess the only real way to...
