    Gents, thanks for the replies. You can appreciate my confusion. Either side of the step is a continuous render all the way to the ground. I could put a bell caster thing in but it'd look odd as it'll only be the width of the step. Is the water proofing you mention applied to the wall...

    wrong positioning of sink and loo -

    Would a folding shower screen help (sorry I can't see the pictures)? I've got a 4 section one that folds up quite small and flush to the wall so that I can get out of the tap end of the bath.

    Sorry about this post, I know it's been covered on here a few times because I've searched, but yet to find an answer. I have to bridge the DPC where I took out a step. The step was concrete and provided access from the French windows to the patio a few feet below. The step cracked quite badly...

    Thanks for the advice guys, I didn't realise modern windows had vents in. I'll temporarily block the vents and see how we go. A bathroom fan is purchased but not yet fitted, I'll have to get on with it!
