So, I went for it but hit a snag as soon as I opened up the Drayton LP241 to look at the wiring. The wires (blue in particular) are too short for the heat link. What's the easiest way to extend the wires?

There is no way I am getting the thermostat cables pulled through as they're in the plaster. Is there a way to disconnect both ends and leave where they are safely?
