Help Needed Drayton LP241 & Thermostat to Google Nest 3

Hello everyone. I've spent the past week going through existing threads, watching YouTube videos, and reading manuals, but I still feel unsure about proceeding without some additional clarification. We have an oil heating system with a separate water tank.

Our current setup includes a Drayton LP241 programmer in the kitchen (our house layout is upside down) and a Drayton thermostat in the landing hallway.

I want to remove/decommission the existing thermostat as it’s in a bad location. We will use the stand to power from the mains.

To take the old room thermostat out of service this is how I would do it.

The wires in 2 and 3 should be the room thermostat wires. I would check first to be sure, then disconnect them and make them safe

Then I would move the white wire that goes to the motorised, to terminal 3 which was the switched live supply to the thermostat from the programmer.

In terms of heat link, I assume it would be the same as you have explained previously?

The wires in N and L are straight forward, they go to the corresponding terminals at the Heat link.

The wire in LP HW OFF (1) will move to Heat link 'Hot Water Satisfied' (4)

The wire in LP CH ON (4) will move to Heat link 'Heating Call For Heat' (3),

The wire in LP HW ON (3) will move to Heat link 'Hot Water Call For Heat' (6)

Links are then required between (L) and the two 'Common' terminals (2) and (5) so that the 3 terminals are electrically connected. What do I need for these links? i.e cabling etc?

That all sounds good to me.

Here's an example of the links. The black wires between L, 2 & 5

This is a slightly different installation to yours (S-Plan not Y-Plan) so it doesn't have the 'Hot Water Satisfied' that yours needs. I've just used the picture to show the links.

Yes, still needed, hot water off should be in the LP241 which iirc is terminal 1

There is no way I am getting the thermostat cables pulled through as they're in the plaster. Is there a way to disconnect both ends and leave where they are safely?

So, I went for it but hit a snag as soon as I opened up the Drayton LP241 to look at the wiring. The wires (blue in particular) are too short for the heat link. What's the easiest way to extend the wires?

It's tight in there and the heat link cover can't easily be fixed to the wall without leaving a hole or wire showing?

If they're being disconnected at the wiring center end, then the thermostat end will be safe anyway.
