Best External Wood Paint - Garden Building

Its close enough. I had a look round various places and all the paint is waterbased and about as thick as semiskimmed. I remember when paint on sheds was so thick that if the wood rotted away, the paint became the shed. Is that all gone now?

Best External Wood Paint - Garden Building

I have a garden building which is about 7 years old, its not really made of the most rot resistant wood so I have had to do a bit of maintenance. Last year I made a new window frame I quickly painted it with Cuprinol Garden shades, but the whole south side is looking very tired mainly because...

Is this the worst double glazing fail?

I have googled double glazing windows filling with water, but didn't find such an epic failure as my office window. I think its been heated during the day and cooling at night drawing water into a tiny pin prick. I'll probably never find where it comes in. Still I thought someone might...

I did make a huge mess of the place. Pretty much took all day. If I charged for my time I can see the repair would be too expensive The end result before I put the trim back in. You can't tell its been repaired other than it now looks better than the rest if the building which will need...

That is exactly what I did. I really enjoyed myself, but it was a lot of effort.

    wooden window frames

I had a crazy idea. I think I can probably make the bottom and side pieces and I am probably not going to mess about with trying to fill it. I borrowed my dads router and bits and had a go at making some profile bits and I reckon I can do this, even the joins. The only bit I'm really worries...

Yes, I would rather replace both pieces then I don't need to match the profile. I think that is what I'm going to do.

Well that was a total waste of time. I try to avoid buying everything online but no choice.

Wait till you see how much I removed to get to solid wood. It needs more than a root canal.

    wooden window frames

Whilst I'm here, I should have repainted the building probably 2 years ago. I think that the paint it has on it has gone porus and now its letting moisture in and trapping it. So what do people recommend for repainting it. I have Capriol garden shades on the fences, but I feel thats more of a...

TLDR - we don't care your problem. The OEM said.... Unfortunately, we don’t sell spare parts or offer an aftersales service at present. It is partly due to current COVID having a knock on effect on the business, supplier issues, wood shortages and an inability to get the parts to you easily...

The other thing is that they keep telling us plastic lasts for ever, I have looked at composite plastic `timber` for making things that I would normally have used wood for and the cost is silly expensive (having said that timber is pretty expensive now too). I think on a garden building there...

    wooden window frames

Yes, I think thats still much better price than a new window. But with a bit of fettling I can probably make the bit I need. I have removed 2 beads and if I remove the other two then I'm sure the window can be liberated. Putty was horrible stuff, but it should leave a non-setting seal which...

    wooden window frames

Google isn't your friend when you didn't know the name of the bit you needed. But now I know I can probably work it out. I found the original manufacturer, who changed names (which is always suggesting they are trying to escape their past) and I have contacted them. The new buildings they...
