Hallelujah! A step closer. I realised that the buttons weren't pressing properly so took the keypad apart and wiped out down with alcohol. Seems to have done something too the contacts. When I tried 12345ent it came up with INVALID CODE I then tried 112233ent and it displayed: NO ACCESS -...

It doesn't actually 'default'. It says "configuring system" then "alarm in progress". I try entering 12345 ent, but it doesn't show anything on the keypad. Just a few stars * and then goes back to "alarm in progress".

So I tried it, but it didn't work. I've attached a video of what I did (I tried by also connecting battery first and by disconnecting the external fuse). Strangely, the system doesn't work at all when only the battery is connected even though I bought a new battery. Any other ideas or other...

Thanks - will try that and see what happens. Not hopeful as I suspect the system has been off for a long time. The previous battery had corrosion on the leads and has an installation date of 2010! Thanks for the help nonetheless. Very grateful.
