I have fiberglassed the piece and made a thin fiberglassed oplywood washer to reinforce the screws area. I will redrill the holes and sand and then paint it again.

I have decided fiberglassing the entire pieces, specially on the edge near the holes.

Metal is a bad idea because it transmits heat and the sensor would be affected.

It actually protrudes 1mm... The plywood seems pretty strong, but it will be in a vibrating environment. Pictures installed:
