Thank you all very much for your comments and advice.
Alongside the quality of the install, my main takeaway from this is that water quality is crucial (and also something I, as a homeowner, can actually do something about). This is supported by my own experience living with the Vaillant - it...
Hi all,
It looks like the time has come for our nearly 15 year old Vaillant Ecotec Plus 937 to be retired. It was installed when we moved in eight years ago and has needed several costly repairs in the time we've been here. The latest issue (posted here already), its age plus the fact that it's...
Hi Addlepate. I wonder ... did you go for the Alpha E-Tec NX and, if so, how has your experience been so far? I'm in the market for a new boiler and this looks like it ticks all the boxes ...
I totally agree on the point about converting this to a normal combi and not using the storage tanks - my view is that they just add complexity and things to go wrong. This boiler was here when we moved in and was about five years old then. It has not been reliable at all, and I wouldn't buy a...
Disappointing indeed, but I think this 14.5 year old boiler is probably telling me something
I observed the PHEX being removed, cleaned, flushed and put back in place. It didn't look particularly dirty and, in fact, a new one was installed maybe six years ago not too long after we moved into...
So the PHEX has been removed, cleaned and flushed and reinstalled. Unfortunately this made no difference, but I was worth a shot. Thank you again for your advice - I really appreciate it.
Okay, so I have turned off the boiler and run the bath hot tap at full flow. Once the hot water is exhausted and it runs cold, the noise from the boiler stops. And it starts again when the boiler is turned back on and water is heated again.
I've also run test programme P1, which I think fires...
The boiler is currently set to 60C for the DHW. I just tried to measure the temperature at the bath hot tap and it is hotter than the temperature the thermometer would register (which I believe is max 50C, therefore implying the hit water is deliver at over 50C). I think I have a different...
Firstly, thank you for your help Johntheo5.
I've done this and it is 7.5 litres per minute hot water at the point there is no noise. That is about half what it should be.
This is very interesting ...
Thank you very much for your reply. It has been a few weeks so I thought I'd update here in case it is useful for anyone else.
I decided to roll the dice and ran some Sentinel X400 through the system. After a couple of days of both heating and hot water use the wheezing noise issue resolved...
Our Vaillant Ecotec 937 has started to make a wheezing steam train style noise when the hot water is at full load.
Here's a video of the noise: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bbh6F_rNUn5JFascntT3CaWu_LQUx8Aa/view?usp=drivesdk
The hot water flow fluctuates and I reckon it is lower than a few...
