    Thanks all for the help. Looks like a trip to the attic tomorrow :) The house was built in 1998, but a lot of oddities in the properties including the struts themselves but wouldn’t surprise me if there was a 2nd supply into the property.

    Hi all. Tried to fit basin taps in the downstairs WC. That doesn’t have any valves I could find (pic attached) under the sink which is fine so I went to the sink in the kitchen and found one (pic attached) I shut this valve off and Unsurprisingly it shut off both the cold and hot water supply...

    Screwless light switch

    I thought there may have been a sleeker way like with a ring terminal, but if that is safe to do it this way, I'll proceed :) I wasn't too sure that the screws would be safe enough. I'm mechanical, and have very little electrical savvy

    Gold

    In times of austerity, they know fine well that people will sell whatever valuables they have. Gold & silver (though mostly Gold) has retained it's worth through centuries and is far safer investment than the stock market / pensions. I'm glad that someone pointed out to avoid owning paper gold...
