I used this at the weekend and thought I would share my results
Basics = kettling - we had heating but no hot water
I have a vaillant ecotec plus 831 which is 5 years old, we had Home Energy Services come round and they said that the plate heat exchange was blocked
Change the HE for a...
Just an update:
I put about 1/4 of a tub of fernox ds40 in the radiator and let it go around the system for 2 hours, when I emptied it it looked like mud coming out
Couple of rinses and then put in some neutralizer - couple more rinses and everything is working again
This stuff is magic...
It is noisy
If I have the water on low at the tap I get some water for a bit then it fades away to cold
If I have the tap on full it goes warm for 5 secs then nothing
I have watched the boiler it flames for 10 seconds or so and gives up - also very bad kettling noise
Have had the...
I have heating and not a lot of hot water - especially at high pressure
I had the plate heat exchanger replaced but they say its the main heat exchanger now - I have read that it could be as simple as this filter being blocked so wanted to just check before another £450 on a power flush
I have a vaillant ecotec plus 831 and I would like to have a look at the canoe filter -
Firstly,
Do I need to drain the system to have a look at it - Im guessing yes
Is it easy to get to - can I just undo it (left pipe beside pressure sensor)
Thanks in advance
O and whilst Im...
I dont think they have - is that something I can look at as if I am correct its a small white one before the plate HE
We did change the plate HE - but I dont know if they looked at it or not
we are getting an extension done and part of the works will be to powerflush and fit a new boiler as well as fit new radiators in the areas required - Im just trying to pre-long its life until May
Hi Bunnyman - I'm listening but you haven't been descriptive enough -
When you say - Jesus these boilers are unburstable, with the probs u have it must be full of s**t, this problem is a simple fix probably £150 top to sort it... Get ann engineer in , it's a standard fault -
Are you...
I heard that intergas had no diverter valve and was easier to maintain so might look at these
Also, my boiler seems to gain pressure all the time (daily) - Im guessing the filler loop might need to be looked at - but saying that after a few weeks it decides to lose pressure
I noticed you...
With all the hassles we have had since it ran out of warranty is it worth it - if I get a new one when we have work done the it'll be about 1.5k - whereas a powerflush is over £450 with vat and no guarantee it'll work.
I have had 2 engineers
The first from HES - he said plate HE
The other I got to change the HE and albeit it had a small leak it wasn't the problem - the said main HE and stick in some fernox F5 and hope for the best or full power flush
I stuck in some F5 and nothing - stuck in another...
Thanks for the reply muggles
I was going to mix it up with some water as I noticed it was powder based - would that work? - I was going to close off all the radiators except the towel rail - drain the towel rail and dump it in there - put the pressure back up and let the air our of the towel...
I know this is a common problem but Im after some advice. The boiler is 5 years old and we are in a hard water area. The main heat exchanger is kettling as we have changed the plate HE to no avail. I have used Fernox F5 and that helps but you can only get hot water for about 5 minutes on low...
