Thanks for that, will have a look. He has to supply his own tools but from what I can gather they need to be insulated ones.

    Screwdriver recommendations

https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Prod is that the kind of thing you mean? If not any links would be great! It’s for the daughter’s boyfriend for Christmas, so don’t mind if it’s a bit more.

Thanks for the advice. I was only looking at these ones as he had used someone else’s and said he liked them, and was looking at them online to get his own set as he’d lost his insulated screwdriver at work, but didn’t get them due to the price, but not sure what one he was looking at. Any other...

    Screwdriver recommendations

Hi Was going to get a screwdriver set as part of a Christmas present for a second year electrical apprentice as they were talking about getting one, but I’m not sure which one to get. I know they wanted one that was insulated and a ratchet screwdriver, but I don’t know what the difference...

    loft insulation causing damp...

I don't think this is the entire cause of the problem as the extractor fan was disconnected 7 years ago when we moved in (so we have never used it) and it is only in the last year there has been a damp problem. I assume that previously it wasn't a problem as there was no insulation in the loft...

    loft insulation causing damp...

Thanks for the advice :) I have pulled the insulation back a bit to allow increased ventilation. When I was doing this I noticed that some of the roof felt was ripped (presumably from when the neighbours had their sofits replaced, which is what I originally thought the problem was but didn't...

    loft insulation causing damp...

Last year I installed insulation in the loft. Since then I have had damp problems. I have now realised that this is more than likely due to the fact that I done the insulation right up to the eaves and didn't leave any gaps round the edges. So, my question is, how do I rectify this? is it best...

Neighbour replaced soffit and guttering, now I have damp!

Thanks Nige. I think I will get up in the loft again and put some insulation back where they took it out from whilst I'm waiting for my dad to get up a ladder to check it out from outside to see if it helps :)

Neighbour replaced soffit and guttering, now I have damp!

Thanks for the suggestions :) Will have to get my dad up a ladder to clear the guttering (being a terraced the downpipe is shared between 3 houses :S ) and have a look for me and go from there.

Neighbour replaced soffit and guttering, now I have damp!

Thanks John :) This is my first house so I have nothing to compare it to, just to how it was before the damp problem! I have had a good look from outside at ground level and nothing looks different(other than the new soffit and guttering). I can't see any tiles out of place. From the inside...

Neighbour replaced soffit and guttering, now I have damp!

In the summer our neighbour had their soffit and guttering replaced. The soffit was originally solid, but they replaced it with plastic soffit with slits all along it. Our house was built in 1955. We have cavity wall insulation. It is a terraced and between us and nextdoor there is a shared...
