Ridge Tiles repointing + flaky tiles

OK, here are some photos - don't know if they are detailled enough. One side of the roof looks fine, the other side is flakey. ridge tiles have gaps in them. Any thoughts on the tiles?

Ridge Tiles repointing + flaky tiles

Thanks for that, DAZB, I'll get some photos posted soon as the rain stops.... If I were to get a repoint done by a professional, what ball park price should I be looking at (weed out the cowboys!!). It's a mid terrace 3 bed in Gloucester.

Ridge Tiles repointing + flaky tiles

Hi, I keep getting bits of mortar falling down my roof, so took a look at the ridge tiles. There doesnt seem to be any pointing between any of the tiles. they are the type that butt up against each other without that overlap i've seen on other roofs. Do I need to repoint them urgently? Access...

can i wire in my cooker to wiring regs

fair point... the consumer unit is a long way away and i don't have the skill to re route the cable or the cash to get a spark to do it. this is more of a quick fix, just want it to be safe. the switch was put in a cupboard by the previous person as the old switch is on the wall above what is a...

simiar to my last post, can i use choc box connectors to join cooker cable where i have removed a switch. a friend had this done by a builder (we took the panel off to have a look today as i want to do it) they looked fairly chunky ones and were wrapped up in insulating tape. would this be ok or...

can i wire in my cooker to wiring regs

No, even i know that is a no no. No, i'm not doing that, the path would be: consumer unit-old cooker switch(joining cable going to)-cooker connection unit in wall behind cooker- new switch in cupboard - cooker input. the only join would be where i take out the old switch. So in general...

can i wire in my cooker to wiring regs

Hi all, i'm wondering if i can wire in my cooker, or do regs require a qualified spark to do it? i'll need to take out the old switch and join the wires - i presume these will need to be crimped together with butt connectors (will they need a heat shrink too?), cover this hole with a blanking...

    Condensation inside roof space

thank for the info. spacers... how long should they be? or does that depend on how big the overlap of the felt is? and how do i fit them? i'm clueless on roofs, i'm afraid.

    Condensation inside roof space

I've been reinsulation my loft and noticed that there is a lot of condensation on the inside of the roof. (black felt type lining). I think the previous owner went a bit far and blocked up all of the eave space with fibreglass which i guess would have restricted airflow? I've managed to get most...
