Damp patch above shower - ventilation issue or leak?

Thanks everyone. Here are some photos. @Madrab my neighbour would not have a damp patch on her floor as the pipe is underneath her floor. I removed the paint a week ago and I can't feel any damp there now but the water stain remains. I'll put some damp proof paint on it and see what happens...

Damp patch above shower - ventilation issue or leak?

Hi, I live in a first floor 1960s flat with concrete ceilings and floors. I have a damp patch with flaking paint above my shower where the paint is peeling. I suspected it was due to the lack of ventilation in the room - there is no window or extraction fan. However a handyman (who installed...

    Concrete ceiling insulation

Hello, I would like to insulate my concrete ceiling (I'm on the first floor of a block of flats). I've been advised to use 22ml Thermaline boards however using these plus the structure used to fix them to the ceiling would take away a fair chunk of my ceiling height which is quite low anyway...

    Thermaline on ceiling

Hello, My gas engineer has advised that I fit 22ml Thermaline boards to the ceiling with adhesive. It sounds great, especially as my ceilings are quite low, however it also sounds quite risky given the boards are so heavy. Any advice appreciated. Thanks, Emer

Wetroom drain problems - should I use One Shot?

Update! Yes, it’s taken almost three weeks for me to resolve this issue. This is the sequence of my attempted resolutions: 1. Contacted plumber who couldn’t come out for more than a week 2. Decided to hire a wet vac, only one I could get locally was £58 a day. 3. Called another plumber who said...

Wetroom drain problems - should I use One Shot?

I sometimes get problems with both the wetroom and kitchen sink but haven't had any problems lately. What I could do is put caustic soda down all three drains and see if that makes a difference? Will see if I can get my hands on a wet vacuum too. Many thanks.

Wetroom drain problems - should I use One Shot?

Many thanks for your quick replies. When I snake it I can't feel any blockage, the snake reaches as far as the wall of the wetroom which is where the pipe turns I'm guessing? I don't have a wet vacuum cleaner unfortunately, maybe I could hire one. There are no issues with the sink or toilet or...

Wetroom drain problems - should I use One Shot?

Wetroom drain by Emerol posted 13 Sep 2020 at 10:09 AM Hello, My wetroom drain suddenly stopped working on Friday and I'm not sure how to fix it. I snaked the drain, and added bleach but no joy. I do have a bottle of One Shot but I am cautious of using it because I put bleach in the drain last...
