Electric Immersion Heater Problem / Potential Solution?

Hi - follow link to a pic of the system as requested... http://www.4shared.com/file/20001527/1fad7a7/unit.html I assume that the unit above the main consumer unit is the E7 consumer unit? Both fuses are 13A in there and both are intact. By the process of elimination it must be the...

    Bathroom Spots / Extractor?

Just thinking... There is a unit on the main ceiling in the bathroom which I assume was once an extractor (no longer works). I checked in the roof space and a large pipe comes out of the ceiling and across the loft to duct through the externally facing bargeboards. Would this fan be...

    Bathroom Spots / Extractor?

I have another question.... yawn ! I'm just about to install a suspended ceiling & spots in my bathroom. The room does not have a window, therefore, is an extractor necessary? (I'm worried about condensation) Thanks

Electric Immersion Heater Problem / Potential Solution?

I have a 32A MCB in the consumer unit, the cable then appears to run into a separate fusebox with two 'old-style' breakers (not sure what the rating is - assume 13A each). I think that the separate fusebox is something to do with the economy 7 - there isn't a timer in the system (not a...

Electric Immersion Heater Problem / Potential Solution?

Yes I have a multimeter. I'll test both poles... So, if the MCB is 32A and the fuse is rated @ at least 26A I would be safe to install a 30A isolation switch to run both immersions ?? Or am I missing the point...?

Electric Immersion Heater Problem / Potential Solution?

Thanks for a quick response. Could I replace the isolation switch with a higher rated one, or am I risking the load on the cable? I've already checked the MCB and the separate fusebox and there don't appear to be any blown fuses. Perhaps I could try a new isolation switch on the faulty...

Electric Immersion Heater Problem / Potential Solution?

Hi all, Recently, my electric (economy 7) water boiler stopped heating up the water. The cylinder contains 1 x primary immersion heater (at the bottom) and 1 x secondary immersion heater (at the top). Using a multimeter I ascertained that the power to the primary IH was not present. As a...
