yeh my good friend mr yellow pages . Go through and get lots of quotes, get them to come round and make sure they are all insured, seem decent and clever or preferable get a reference from someone who just had a roof done. Ie drive around looking for a recently done roof.

I would tear it down as flat roofs are terrible and do your proposed work now. Why spend a few hundred quid on a temp fix only to alter it all at a later date. throw some plastic sheeting over it as a dirt cheap fix or do a proper job and get a good pitch on it.

i would rip out the glass just so your house has a consistant style anyway. IT would help resale value i would have thought and be a proper job instead of trying to take a short cut.

plus you have to make sure the structural timbers are suitable for holding up the weight of people as most lofts are designed only for holding up the roof. Not for storage of anything greater than a heater.

Well i would have thought your external wall would be load bearing so your roof will be sat on it assuming your having a pitched roof so your plate will rest there. So there will be a gap at the top but it will be covered by the roof. The gap gives ventilation to stop damp.
