    Reciprocating saw for 50mm shaft

Will a reciprocating saw cut through a 50mm solid steel shaft? Would use a grinder but I can't get in there. Quite prepared to go slow, but need to get it sawn up!

    Ferroli UV cylinder passing

I'm guessing that I will need to isolate the incoming supply, release the pressure in the cylinder and then pump up? Vessel says something like "initial pressure 3bar"...?

    Ferroli UV cylinder passing

Hi, I have a Ferroli 200l unvented cylinder, the temperature/pressure valve is passing hot water out through the tundish. This only happens when the boiler is on. I have tried turning the valve into a new position, but this doesn't help. The expansion vessel doesn't appear to have any gas in...

WB 24Ri in loft with an air lock...

After leaving it for an hour and then going back and pulsing the pump again it seems to have cleared the lock. I didn't lock the valves open, which probably would have helped. Not sure how I could have overfilled the header tank on an unvented system either...? Thanks for the help anyway

WB 24Ri in loft with an air lock...

I have an unvented WB 24Ri in my loft on an unvented system feeding an unvented cylinder with s-plan plus controls. I have fitted a new radiator and refilled the system. All rads are bled. 1.5bar system pressure The pump is running, but noisy, the AAV is not blocked, but the boiler won't...

What prep can I do ready for a house rewire?

Just going through a rewire where I have done most of the prep and not a single socket or switch is in the original position. Think about positioning cable runs where its easy to get cable to, ie not over joists. Also you can sometimes put outlets on both sides of a wall to save chasing...

    Recommend me a programmer/thermostat

I'm having a rewire at the moment and would like to relocate the heating programmer. The space where the programmer is to go will not look neat with the thermostat along side, so i was considering a combined unit. System is a WB 24 condenser with a sealed system and unvented cylinder and two...

    Outside socket for builders

Let me rephrase that, I *now* know that is not the ideal situation. In my defence this was what the guy who installed my CU said I should do. Before you shoot me down again, he is a friend of the family and was a highly qualified spark, rated for runway lights and other specialist kit...

    Outside socket for builders

Well the honest answer is that when I moved in there was no earthing arrangement at all. I have used a pipe strap to lash an earth onto the incoming cable, I know this is wrong and I should have probably installed a TT supply. I am empecting to have the entire house rewired in the next month...

    Outside socket for builders

Don't worry, I won't be doing the work, still at the quoting stage with various sparks who seem to be overrun with work... Not sure on the supply type, have been meaning to write a letter to the DNO to confirm. I don't have an outhouse, so can't put anything there, and although I...

    Outside socket for builders

I'm considering installing an outside socket for some upcoming building work. Given that the house will be locked while they are building, what would you suggest for RCD protection? I am thinking along the lines of an RCD protected MK Masterseal 13A connected to a metal adaptable box with...
