Hi thanks, if I'm better sticking with the Hive Opentherm/rad TRV's and along with decent boiler modulation I'm happy to do so, just trying to get best efficiency I can out of the system
I'm getting a new Vokera Pinnacle 30C installed with a Hive V4 thermostat which has open therm support, and there will be smart TRV's on most radiators.
I mentioned about a weather compensation sensor to my heating engineer who's said they can be a faff and he doesn't like them.
I'm interested...
Yep I'd read it's abit more of a pain to work with, glazing after too etc....
I mean now you mention epoxy grout, you could say in that case it somewhat negates installing a tray as it's waterproof
Tray is still going to be less maintenance overall of course
Thanks, the tray will fill the width of the shower area completely so I think it'd look pretty good... I just don't see the point in the tiles there, just extra maintenance!
I was looking at epoxy grouting last night actually, the reduced cost of the tray might somewhat offset the epoxy grout cost
I'm having a wetroom installed into my property, tiled floor and walls etc.
I'm debating between whether to tile the entire floor including shower area, or whether to use an SMC tray (flush to the rest of the tiles floor).
Are there really any advantages to using a tiled area, or only that the...
Hi everyone,
I'm a power wheelchair user and currently renovating a bungalow, part of which is replacing the subfloor.
I was originally going to go with 22mm chipboard tongue and groove over 18mm for extra strength (my heaviest wheelchair weighs 175kg plus me near 100kg).
However we're going...
Hi thanks for the reply, to be honest my view was that the opening is the single biggest source of heat loss in the room, along with the window, so why not use it
No loft hatch, it's a bungalow with a dormer extension, not much that can be done up there except open the ceilings up etc!
Hi all,
I'm removing a gas fire and blocking up a chimney breast, I'm thinking to use kingspan insulation board, and then a thin plasterboard on top?
I have some spare 60mm kingspan and wondered if I can double it up to make 120mm? I'm not sure if there needs to be certain amount of void in...
Thanks very much I'll have a read of that, after I put the post above I came across this website which seems to explain things pretty well: http://www.superhomes.org.uk/resources/internal-wall-insulation-1/
If I did go down with creating a frame, where they say about placing the kingspan on the...
Thanks everyone for your replies, has anyone found a sensible/effective way of attaching insulated plasterboards directly to the outside wall then skimming over, and having a vapour barrier in place? This although probably not being as effective as building a frame, would be quicker and cheaper...
Hi I'm renovating a terraced house which with the way it's built the downstairs is basically detached and all four walls aren't joining another house (only upstairs joins another house).
The entire house needs plastering so I thought while I was at it, it would be best to insulate the living...
