Some of my garage roof tiles are badly 'spalled' and I want to replace them. Some have lifted off easily by careful chiselling/prising. But some are rock-solid and I can't budge them. They are V-shaped and the roof is 4mm thick plain tiles.

Thanks for your thoughts. I've finally found the route by:
- looking inside the boxes to see where the cable leaves and enters
- deciding 'down and across' was the most likely route and
- carefully digging-out the plaster where the cable-bend should be (and lo, there was a cable-bend).
