    well as previously mentioned the mortar has to be reasonably stiff to maintain a level finish otherwise the pavers will sink into the bed I think its partly the nature of the pavers theyre 40mm and the smoothish surface isnt the best medium for a good bond in the circumstances hindsight...

    yes I usually like wettish mortar however with bedding pavers the mortar needs to be reasonably stiff to avoid the pavers sinking and whilst laying you dont want mortar oozing between blocks

    Hi Noseall thanks again yes both soil pipes 110mm I just thought if they were unvented then there could be a possibility of a slug of water/waste along the horizontal run causing the traps to suck

    chop out wall plate in between roof timbers leaving 1" either side as bearer then block in between onto old brick work then build over, for me this will cause least disruption to room below and hopefully will be"easiest" to carry out, Frank
