Many thanks for your quick reply. The load stops when the door opens and on pushing the start button it starts up again when closed.

We have had the above tumble dryer for 5 years with very little problem. Tday on trying to dry a load, the machine would only work with the start button continually depressed. As soon as I let it go the machine stopped. I then turned the timer dial through 360 degrees with the start button...
