Siemens American style fridge freezer control panel problem

The problem is fixed. Some information in case anyone else encounters this fridge/freezer/issue… The control panel is retained by plastic clips across the top and on each side. A thin bladed ‘spudger’ can be used to release the clips. The bottom edge of the control panel sits on some tabs and...

Siemens American style fridge freezer control panel problem

Hi all, I have a Siemens KA62DA70GB American-style fridge freezer that has become possessed. It has started to randomly dispense ice cubes over the kitchen floor when no one is anywhere near it. After some poking I suspect the problem is with the front touch control panel. That has touch buttons...

    Bathroom spotlights

I recently looked at a similar issue for a customer. When I got into his loft I found the cables supplying some of the mains powered spot lights had been completely severed, most likely by a squirrel. No transformers in this case. One terminal block was missing, teeth marks were obvious on the...

Siemens dishwasher won't start / odd behaviour / leaks

I used Loctite SI5660 grey silicone gasket maker (available in Halfords) instead of LSX. It’s still sealed after more than four years use.

    Megger MFT1720

This is a long time out of any warranty but thank you for trying to help. It looks like I’ll have to start levering things to try and find the way in.

    Megger MFT1720

Hi Ebeam, thanks for that info, very useful. I’m an ex TV & video engineer so very familiar with electronics and fault finding. I was suspecting something linked to the rotary switches as the fault condition cleared after the switches were ‘excercised’ for a while. But I cannot figure out how...

    Megger MFT1720

Thanks for the suggestion, that’s the first thing I tried. I used it today and it behaved itself. I now remove a battery if it’s not going to be used imminently. When the problem is happening 10-20 seconds after installing the batteries three horizontal bars appear then ‘err79’ while the left...

    Megger MFT1720

Hi all, Does anyone know how to access the upper innards of a Megger MFT1720? I bought a used one about 3 years ago, it's been working fine. I suspect I may have developed a rotary switch issue. I found a site that shows opening a MFT 1552 for a similar issue but the 1720 is different...

    Weird wall sockets

In the 70's we used these 'clock points' for supplying mains power to indoor CCTV security cameras. Camera's were almost all mains powered in those days and clock points provided a compact & convenient power connection.

    Piggyback LED Strip off Existing

From the pictures it appears you have connected the controller the wrong way round. The terminals marked '5-24v' should be connected to the 12v supply, the terminals marked 'LED" should be connected to the LED strip.

Siemens dishwasher won't start / odd behaviour / leaks

Excellent write-up, I had the virtually the same fun and games about a year ago. Mine did give a clue with an error code (E15) when the float switch in the base was triggered. That also caused the drain pump to run continuously which is pointless as the leaked water is outside the sump. My...

    Water under floorboards

That "odd galvanised 'drum' type thing" looks to me like an old 'copper' that used to be used to boil wash laundry? There was a gas burner under the bottom of a water filled upper tank where the washing was boiled, with a drain tap on the front. I remember my gran had one that looked like that...
