CNC MDF Wardrobe build - Gap between overlay wardobe doors

I think for me because I often get things machined or tooled in the day job it seemed like a good way to go about this project as it's what I am comfortable with. Although i do a fair amount of DIY and have made fences and gate's and things like that, this just seems on the face of it beyond my...

CNC MDF Wardrobe build - Gap between overlay wardobe doors

All fair points on the above. I think I have a fear of getting everything perfectly machined at the CNC place and then messing it up with a uneven base that I have done by hand. But it sounds very much like making the base in MDF is a big no so I will do this as you have suggested. I had...

CNC MDF Wardrobe build - Gap between overlay wardobe doors

Thanks JobandKnock. Some great references and advice in here. You have basically given me loads of information I hadn't managed to garner from several videos / threads. Very good point regarding the paint build up / growth. I hadn't considered that. There is a small chance (if costs allow) we...

CNC MDF Wardrobe build - Gap between overlay wardobe doors

Sincere apologies everyone. I've been so busy with work and the loft conversion I completely forgot to check this thread! From what I have read the 18mm MDF is OK with the blum hinges I have been looking at and I have found people on YouTube using 18mm MDF for carcasses so that's reassuring...

CNC MDF Wardrobe build - Gap between overlay wardobe doors

Hello all. We are having a loft conversion and would really like some built in wardobes to fill most of one of the walls. After hearing some pretty frightening quotes from other people who have had built in recently, I have decided to get the wardrobe CNC'd at a local place in 18mm MR MDF...

Fixing fence posts to an old wall with coping stones - advice

Ah balls. I've ordered all the bits now (apart from the posts). I need to have a bit of a rethink. Thanks for the advice!

Fixing fence posts to an old wall with coping stones - advice

Ah no! Pretty worried now. I have seen the half height posts in pictures loads online and assumed it was a sound idea. :(

Fixing fence posts to an old wall with coping stones - advice

Hi JohnD. Thanks for the reply, so you think they will be strong enough at 2x3? Or are you suggesting that fixing them to the wall is a bad idea altogether? I was hoping with how sheltered the area is and with slats wind wouldn't be as much of an issue :S

Fixing fence posts to an old wall with coping stones - advice

Good afternoon, Does anyone think using 2x3 for these posts instead of 3x3 would be ok? I have a load of 2x3 I can use and it 'looks' strong enough. But without having done a fence before it is hard to tell. The fence is slatted, with 10mm gaps in between 40x22 battens.

Fixing fence posts to an old wall with coping stones - advice

Ok great. I'll go with that and see what happens when the fence posts arrive at the weekend. I'm not overly worried about wind as the fence will be slatted with gaps (so won't act too much like a sail) and plus there is no wind on that back wall really as it is very sheltered area. So...

Fixing fence posts to an old wall with coping stones - advice

Ah sorry I attached the same picture twice. The half height post was supposed to show the post only extending half way down the wall. Kind of like this...

Fixing fence posts to an old wall with coping stones - advice

Ah amazing thanks Keithmac! I had thought of similar but wasn't sure if this was how packging was done! I will definately do that. Next questions then would be - do the masonry bolts have to go all the way through the post and spacer and fix to the wall? Or can I fix the spacers to the wall...

Fixing fence posts to an old wall with coping stones - advice

Thanks for the replies so far. ktuludays: I have seen packers mentioned in forums a few times, but what do people tend to use for these? I think judging by how uneven the wall is I would need to pack out to over 20mm in some areas! I'll have a think about concreting - but this would be a last...

Fixing fence posts to an old wall with coping stones - advice

Good evening, I am trying to figure out the best way to attch fence posts to this back wall. It is quite an old looking wall, nothing is straight and with the coping and different thicknesses I am struggling to find a nice simple way to attach the fence posts. I don't want to fix just to the...
