Blind routing network cables from MF wall to ceiling

Your must be a surgeon in your day job? Thanks for the tool tips, that could make all the difference.

Blind routing network cables from MF wall to ceiling

That’s not an issue, I can fish for the cable from another location in the ceiling void. It’s just the transition from internal wall to ceiling that’s foxing me. No noggins, effectively just rectangular panels with the metal framing on the four edges. I have a clear path from the socket to the...

Blind routing network cables from MF wall to ceiling

Forgive me, my crude diagram was too crude! I’m ill in bed so am using notes to draw Does this diagram make more sense? Plasterboard is pink, metal framing is grey and cable is red. The wall separates two rooms so has two faces of plasterboard and yes, the metal framing channel on all of its...

Blind routing network cables from MF wall to ceiling

I’m trying to work out how to route some network cables from a socket in a metal framed plasterboard internal wall into the ceiling above. There’s another floor above but it’s in the middle of the room and I can’t disturb that floor so I need to do it from below. Is there any technique for...

    Adding loft lighting

It’s just occurred to me that as this is in the loft, I can add these lights to the lighting circuit of the floor below. I think this is much simpler than adding it to the ring main. Looking at https://www.diynot.com/wiki/Electrics:Single-way-lighting# I would be following the “Connecting a...

    Adding loft lighting

I’m definitely going for a switch so no need to worry about occupancy sensors. Any thoughts on my original questions? Thanks in anticipation

    Adding loft lighting

I’d like to add some permanent lighting to my loft. Currently, the loft has a double socket on the upstairs ring and that double socket has a fused switched spur to a towel heater in the top floor bathroom below. I’m planning on using three 16W batten lights from Screwfix. Firstly, is...

Routing cable behind dot & dab plasterboard and beneath floor

Yeah, I’m pretty happy with it. Thank goodness for multitools!

Routing cable behind dot & dab plasterboard and beneath floor

I took a section of skirting out with a multitool and then a smaller section of plasterboard and the bead of adhesive. That’s given me a route to the floor where I drilled a small hole through. Slightly more damage than I was hoping for but not too bad…

Routing cable behind dot & dab plasterboard and beneath floor

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye on the middle aisle! My £20ish Chinese one from Amazon is not quite good enough. I like the fact I can view the image on my phone via WiFi.

Routing cable behind dot & dab plasterboard and beneath floor

The boroscope is a relatively recent purchase, I’ve done plenty of low tech fishing before! What would you recommend as a slightly better one?

Routing cable behind dot & dab plasterboard and beneath floor

As per https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/routing-ethernet-transversely-to-i-joists-from-front-to-back-of-house.657160/ the house has I-joists and chipboard flooring. Is the chipboard flooring likely to run up to the block work or would it stop short? I think I’ve chosen a location between joists.

Routing cable behind dot & dab plasterboard and beneath floor

I’m in a 15 year-old Persimmon house and am trying to route data cables from under the floor to a wall box. I can access under the floor from below and have cut out a hole for the wall box in the plasterboard. The problem is that the route down to under the floor is blocked. I’ve attached a...

Routing Ethernet transversely to I-joists from front to back of house

Our 15 year old terraced house has I-joists running from party wall to party wall. I'd like to run Ethernet from the front to back of the house and I suspect under a floor / above a ceiling will be the best way (although am open to other ideas!). We'll be having work done on part of the floor...

    Shower trap ID

Can anybody ID this shower trap? The chrome effect top has snapped off and I’m hoping to replace with like for like as I don’t easily have access to fit a new trap. So far I’ve tried the following: Hudson Reed 90mm Etal from Screwfix Viva from Toolstation And I’m awaiting a Nuie to be...
