It seems so - based only on the fact our rads work the 'wrong way around'. Our lock shield caps are on the flow side of the radiator. They did not warn us or tell us, so it could be that it's always been this way but pretty sure we'd have noticed.

No we have nothing special installed. It's not often we do it but we've had 6 or 7 showers run at the same time with no issues. Flow is marginally worse but still far more powerful than our old ones which were 3l/min

Just wanted to update this thread for anyone seeing it in the future - the suggestion by @Agile was correct - the installers must have switched the direction of flow. I have a couple of digital thermometers. I think the poster above is correct and the flow has been switched around, probably why they are unbalanced as the lock shield / return will have been fully open and the flow only 1/4 - 1/2 open.

Thank you - so should I fully open one valve like has been suggested previously or should I open them both a 1/4 and then adjust just one of the valves to get the 12 degree balance?

I don't even think about that - it was a conversion from a open vented system (1989) to a combi.

That's what I thought - but if that's true why doesn't the radiator heat up with the flow fully open and lock shield closed? Is this due to air? In my mind the radiator would fill up with hot water but just not go anywhere after that.

The ones without a knob appear to be the ones that control flow into the radiator. I thought the lockshield was on the return… In this case which ones do I open fully and which do I open a half turn etc ?
