Screwfix Hyperlink appeared without my help

Hey all, I mentioned screwfix in a recent post (//www.diynot.com/diy/threads/shed-made-on-the-cheap-with-pallets.466896/) When I looked at the post without being logged in, the word screwfix was treated as a hyperlink which takes you to the screwfix website. Why is that? I didn't...

Shed made on the cheap with pallets

Hey all, My wife took on an allotment recently. Not long after, she decided she wanted a shed. We looked into buying a pre-made one but I decided I would build her one to keep costs down and and to really keep costs down, I decided to use pallets. Our local builders merchants has mountains of...

Can anyone identify this strange thing I found under my roof?

A watch strap from the 70's, well, I didn't expect that! I wonder how it ended up in such an odd place. Thanks everyone for clearing that up. Maybe I should find a new clock face, restore it and wear it to the pub.....

Can anyone identify this strange thing I found under my roof?

Hello, Whilst installing a floor in the attic of my 1950's former council house, I happened to run my hand down the gap between my roof and partition wall. I found what looks like a small leather wrist strap. As there was no floor in the attic before, it would have been an awkward place for a...

    Which adhesive for stone veener.

Thanks! That could have been a messy mistake. My final decision is to go with a cement based tile adhesive.

Using kitchen worktop for wood working bench.

You're quite right. I was always going to line with ply. The plastic sheeting is to go underneath the ply to keep out moisture.

Using kitchen worktop for wood working bench.

Thanks woody, that's a really good point I hadn't thought about sliding. I've got a few large bits of mdf knocking around, I might make an MDF, Plywood sandwich. As for damp, it's going to be in concrete shed, lined with plastic on the inside. So I'm not too concerned stuff getting damp. (Shed...

Using kitchen worktop for wood working bench.

Hello, I'm going to make a work bench for woodwork soon. I'm planning the materials I need to get and was thinking about the surface. I know mdf, plywood and old doors are popular but I know a few places around me where I can get kitchen laminate worktop quite cheap. Does anyone have any...

    Which adhesive for stone veener.

Thanks for the heads up on the wickes adhesive. That's cheaper than my local builders merchant. (Selco) If all else fails I will go with that. Has anyone here had any experience with additives improving the 'stickiness' or adhesion of mortar? I've read about some latex additives for improving...

Where can I buy a 1.2m wide sliding door from?

Have you thought about looking around a reclamation yard? You can normally find doors all shapes and sizes from older houses. Some old front doors are quite large. I recently bought a front door just over 1m wide for £15. I don't know how set up you are for woodwork. I would be tempted to make...

    Which adhesive for stone veener.

Hello, I've got a concrete block workshop which I intend to clad in cast stone to improve it's look. Can someone recommend an adhesive? I've used a cement based adhesive by dunlop in the past when I tiled my bathroom. It claims to be able handle stone and was indeed seriously strong stuff...
