    fiat punto heating

sounds like a lack of water in the heater radiator in the cabin or the engine is not geting to full temperature. Does the temperature gauge read normal? Is the radiator full of water (check when cold - not hot as it will spray you with boiling water)?

    Emergency Services

ok, from memory of my days in the emergency operator section in bt, all 999 calls, from non-mobile phones and from anywhere in the UK (not Dublin) are answered by a dedicated, emergency, BT operator. On the screen, it displays the telephone number of the caller and their house address. The...

    car pulling problem

its probably not tappet noise but pre-ignition (pinking). either check the spark plugs and air filter is in good condition and that all vacuul hoses are not leaking or blocked or take it to the garage and get them to check it with their computer diagnostic machine

    Escort tickover

its mainly electronic however, you could check the basics such as ensure the air filter is clean (renew it) and that all vacuum hoses are leak free (they tend to split) also ensure that all breather and vacuum hoses are not blocked.

Wrong place in forum i know... but you're a friendly bunch!

paye employees get an allowance (their tax code) which is allegedly to allow for the sort of costs that self employed can claim for but self employed must itemize all costs to claim them. There is no difference in the tax paid but the self employed get their hands on the money and have some...

Wrong place in forum i know... but you're a friendly bunch!

i agree with everyone else - get an accoutant - given that they claim for things you would not know about and you can offset their costs against next years earnings, they are free! They will also steer you around the minefield of claiming part of your house is business related and finding that...

    chimney problem

thanks dazb - i like the idea of the rotating cowl and have just found details on a web site. apparently it increase the draft and comes with an unconditiona, money back guarantee to fix the problem. I guess it's worth a try before resorting to metal work inside the fireplace.

    chimney problem

i do not have a canopy fitted, it's just the standard chimney pot. I have had the chimney tested and am told that it works fine. Does the cowling increase the draw up the chimney beyond that of a normal efficient chimney? My line of thinking is that we had no problems at all with the original...

    chimney problem

We have had a real coal effect gas fire fitted in our louge complete with inglenook fireplace. The problem is that when we have all doors to the room closed, we get a smell of fumes in the room. Initially, we thought it was because the installers did not fit an air vent - so I fitted one. I...

    Yale Alarms

Yes it works fine. This weekend I had need to move a door contact so took the opportunity to walk test the whole system. No problem at all. De-activated the door contact. removed it, refitted it, reprogrammed and all is well. It may be horses for courses but I rate the Yale system highly...

    Yale Alarms

I installed the Yale system in my house two years ago. The PIRs and door contacts use regular batteries (AA or AAA or similar). The siren uses the large batteries ("D" I think). The system has a built in "low battery" detector and I have not replaced any batteries yet. The system has been...

double glazed front door - drain holes

thanks Masona but i dont' understand why there is a drip channel on the inside of the sill. it is a white aluminium door with no condensation at all and the door opens inwards. Rain could never reach the inner surface of the door and there is a separate drain channel for the rain that hits the...
