sounds like a lack of water in the heater radiator in the cabin or the engine is not geting to full temperature. Does the temperature gauge read normal? Is the radiator full of water (check when cold - not hot as it will spray you with boiling water)?

its probably not tappet noise but pre-ignition (pinking). either check the spark plugs and air filter is in good condition and that all vacuul hoses are not leaking or blocked or take it to the garage and get them to check it with their computer diagnostic machine

its mainly electronic however, you could check the basics such as ensure the air filter is clean (renew it) and that all vacuum hoses are leak free (they tend to split) also ensure that all breather and vacuum hoses are not blocked.
