Not sure what this is.
Literally all it looks like is my toilet in the bathroom upstairs is connected to the soil stack, but then it stops below the hieght of the toilet sistern. It just seems to be capped by a round plastic cap.
No special vents or gizmos.
All I need to know really...
Hi DIYNotters,
I am redecorating my bathroom and have revealed the soil stack coming off the toilet.
I was under the impression that a soil stack should always vent through the roof.
This one doesn't and has been capped to approx the hieght of the toilet sistern.
There is often a...
Hi, we are having problems after removing and refitting the lounge radiator after decorating. We have moved recently and have been used to the old style gravity type central heating system and there was no issues with taking off and replacing radiators.
In our new house we have a Worcester...
I have had whining radiators for several months.
I have a two pipe open-vented with a boiler in the airing cupboard.
I also have a three-way diverter, a grundfoss pump and an air seperator.
Because of the whining and the nice weather I have decided to put a cleanser into the header tank...
I have read a few posts related to damp concrete floors and tiling.
I have a 1960's house where they have linked an small out-house with the kitchen. They have removed the old back door and linked the out-house with the kitchen using a flat roof and a set of french windows.
I have been...
Thanks Oilman/Chris R.
I shall drain the system again after I have called Fernox.
They should know a little about this problem.
:o I am shocked that I have an alien blob growing in my pipes!
I should call Steve McQueen if he was still alive!
That should have said "should Ifit ..."
That's great though thanks for the help!
I wont bother with the no-return valve as it seemed to be the source of the vibrations in the pipe.
:P
Has nobody else noticed a deposits in their header tank floating on the surface of the water in an vented central heating system. :?
I think help forum is brilliant :P
But need more help as paranoid that gunk in my system could blow up my boiler :!: :(
When we moved into the house the header tank was full of orangey rusty crap that came from a rusty grundfos pump.
I changed this and treated the system with cleanser (sludge remover) and then I drained the whole system and put in Fernox MB-1 Protector.
As far as I know that's all.
We do...
Should fit isolation valve along the horizontal pipe I have tee'd off from the mains feed in the airing cupboard, rather than on a vertical pipe leading up to the shower?
:?
Hello. Is it alright to tee off from the cold water feed that leads up to the header tank in my loft?
I have a indirect vented system and I have mains fed cold water in the actual bathroom and a cold water feed up to the loft (and the tanks).
I'm guessing that it shouldn't matter, but I...
Has anybody ever found this to be true? I protected my system with Fernox (which is a liquid) and a few months later my header tank had a weird jelly type substance floating on the surface of the water?
It would be cool if I could have re-assurance on this.
I don't have any ice cream to...
I am installing a new bathroom and while I was draining the hot and cold water system I noticed orange foamy gunk (not in the hot water storage tank) in the small header tank that is linked to the central heating.
Here's the history:-
A while ago I did drain the central heating system...
