13mm outer diameter copper water pipe. I can't find any fittings

Hi, The water pipe in our outhouse has a valve that slowly lets water through when it's shut off causing a constant drip. I was hoping to swap the valve for a new one. The pipe has an outer diameter of 13mm (0.512 inch) and I can't find any products with this size fitting. It's an old pipe. I...

Socket on a radial from consumer unit

Hi. Radial query. I've got a 5 foot high cupboard in the hall that contains the consumer unit and utility meters. I want to put a table lamp on the cupboard but have no sockets nearby so was planning on putting a single socket inside the cupboard on a short radial from the consumer unit...

    Lintel advice needed

Thanks for the replies. I was ready to acrow prop and put a new lintel in when I found that I'd just missed the original lintel when I'd first looked for it. It's 15mm high, 30mm above the height of the new opening and is long enough for the opening that I need. Very lucky! Any tips on how...

    Lintel advice needed

thanks for the replies. if you had the option of either replacing the existing lintel or putting the new one along the top of the old one which one would you go for? i'm thinking that putting the new one along the top of the old one seems safer than removing the old one, although it...

    Lintel advice needed

Thanks. My first thought was to put the new lintel along the top of the existing one and leaving them both in place. It would mean removing a single course above the lintel. Is this doable? If temporary support is needed could I support it brick by brick as they are removed?

    Lintel advice needed

Hi. The other half has had an idea, now I'm left sorting it. Making space for a new fireplace. The attached drawing shows the existing opening and lintel in grey, the chimney flu space in blue, and the new opening that is needed in orange. From looking around the internet I've seen that I'd...

    slate roof leak question

hi, i couldn't get decent shots of under the lip of the gable end. is there any reason why proper slates haven't been used during previous repairs? being on a gable end, on a hill, at the end of a pennine valley, is this a typical situation where you'd get leaks via wind pushing rain up under...

    slate roof leak question

Hi. Converted attic space. Leak in the corner of the room approx where the X is on the photos. Annoying sporadic leak. Bloke came round and said it was probably the wind blowing rain up under the tiles. Obvious problem would be where the corner of the slate is missing in the third...

Heatline S24 Compact Combi - Blowing Fuses

thanks again......... so i replaced the black nut (gland?), diverter motor and cable.... some kind of success but I'm not sure if I've made any progress beyond doing none of the above and just disconnecting the old faulty motor. In the fortnight since changing the parts there has been no...

Heatline S24 Compact Combi - Blowing Fuses

Hi. Finally managed to get back to this. We have hot water but switching on the central heating causes the pcb f1/f2 quick blow fuses to pop. Removed the Diverter Valve Motor. Water evident. See the corrosion on the connector lead...
