    Astro turf instalation recommendations

So we've decided to replace our ailing lawn with Astro turf and would be grateful for any recommendations for installers in the Leeds, Bradford area. It's not a large lawn, I'd estimate about 20 feet length semicircle shape widest width about 10 feet. Next door neighbour had it done and they are...

Damaged drains. Will I be covered??

So just after Christmas I noticed our drain gully was backing up so I called a company out, and long story short, they were blocked due to being in a bad state, roots, cracked, pushed slightly out of line....etc The camera they sent down verified this, but when the guys arrived they noticed...

    Re colouring Indian stone patio

We have an Indian stone patio that is a pale grey colour and wondering if there is a stain type of product so we can re colour it into more of a buff, Yorkshire stone shade... I know it's unlikely, but thought I'd ask before thinking about having it redone... Thanks

    Vailant ecotec 28...Intermittent buzzing noise

The diverter valve casing was black plastic & the bypass spring assembly inside was brass. It was the brass bit that was rattling about causing the noise. This guy covers Manchester to West Yorks, Leeds Ilkley etc, so has a wide area to cover. He said it even throws him out if he has to trail...

    Vailant ecotec 28...Intermittent buzzing noise

He has 50mins allowed for each job, around 10 jobs per day over a widespread area. He said one job turned out to be 4hrs long, but he still has to complete the days quota even if he works late. He said he works till 10pm or later some days. He was def a stressed out individual.

    Vailant ecotec 28...Intermittent buzzing noise

So the Vailant engineer came out last Friday & as luck had it, the boiler was droning away. It was a Bypass/Diverter valve. He said they fail due to bad design & being made out of a soft metal...eg Brass. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor guy. His daily work load targets were...

    Vailant ecotec 28...Intermittent buzzing noise

Sods law dictated that we didnt get any noise yesterday, so unable to try this out. My wife did report that after putting some washing on, it started again this morning, but the Plumber is calling, so I hope it's still going for when he gets here.

    Vailant ecotec 28...Intermittent buzzing noise

Thanks for the info guys. Thats useful to know... Got the plumber who did the install coming to look tomorrow. He said he's going to bill Vailant if it's their issue, or I'll prob just pay him if he cures it & claim it back. The Plumber does regular work for my Nephew's building company, so we...

    Vailant ecotec 28...Intermittent buzzing noise

I think this is quite a regular topic on here, but thought I'd post anyway. So we had this boiler fitted about a year ago. Had its first service a couple of months ago & in the last month or so, it has started making an intermittent buzzing noise which seems to resonate through the Rads. This...

    Tiling over existing floor tiles

We've just had a new heating system put in which has left some spaces in our porch floor tiles where the old boiler came out, plus the tiles are looking a bit tired now, so I want to lay some more down. The original tiles were laid over a solid concrete floor & there's enough height to lay new...

    Water butt diverter/filter kits

I've just been checking out the Guttermate water diverter kit & noticed on Amazon that there is a Guttermate diverter/filter kit for £20 & a Sankey Guttermate kit which looks the same for around £7. I'm suspecting that the Sankey is a cheaper made variant. Just thought I'd check before buying...

Ideas for retaining rain water wanted

We have some plants that prefer natural rain water, so with this in mind, we are thinking of piping our gutter fall pipe to a water butt. The only potential problem here is that we get quite a lot of moss on our roof, some of which gathers in our drain. Would this moss contaminate the water in...
