Tile over old Marble Fire Surround

I'd use a strong contact adhesive to fix a suitably sized piece of hardboard and fix the tiles to that. If the marble has a high gloss finish I doubt a pva base will hold anything more than a sheet of paper.

For all us perfectionists out there.

I was thinking there must be a more elegant solution though. Having seen so many shortcuts and bad workmanship makes me wonder how the works got passed by the inspectors. Once completed (at £114m after £4m fine for late completion) the company sold it for £150m only to lease it back at £12m per...

For all us perfectionists out there.

I work in Manchester, this building was completed about 5 years ago and the company I work for moved in right away. Now, tell me if this is a great install or just someone just joining the dots (well, pipes actually). I know that on other sinks there are pipes which add cold water feeds to the...

  11. Well, what do you make of this

Well, what do you make of this

Commercial, 5 years ago built. Messy cowboy installation ?

    Cooker Wiring

Yes, it will be in steel. I may have to forego the nice black nickel coloured sockets for plain RCD protected ones unless I can get a suitable junction box. Anyway, now I'm really going to bed. Thanks for the help.

    Cooker Wiring

This is getting more complicated than I anticipated. I assumed RCD protection was only necessary on a bathroom, shower room or outside circuit. The pond pumps will have the plug in unit which I use now. One double socket only on each 2.5mm² branch is what I intend so as not to burden the wiring...

    Cooker Wiring

Yes, you are correct. MCB is the one I meant (doh!).

    Cooker Wiring

Thanks for the help, I didn't know the double socket was rated lower than 2 x 13A so that's useful to know. As for the RCD, there will be one in the CU for the cooker circuit which is the first available location to put it, I could leave the original fuse in place but I thought I'd go for an RCD...
