Ahhhhhh. That must be where I went wrong! I did everything you said - except for connecting the Hive L for Common 1. I will try that as soon as I get home and update you on progress! Fingers crossed

The photo is of the programmer back plate. The wires for the Drayton thermostat come in to neural with live in position 4 and the white wires connected off the plate. I have the Single Channel Hive unit.
