Ah I see, that makes sense, thanks. Although I don't think there's room within the recess for this. Could potentially chisel out more room but it's a bit awkward with the pipe in place. Hence why I was thinking more along the lines of a thin tape. I think the felt could work in the space I have...
Pipe felt like this? https://www.wickes.co.uk/Topsleeve-50mm-x-7-2m-for-Insulating-Pipes-From-15mm-22mm/p/234846?fix&gclid=CjwKCAjwrranBhAEEiwAzbhNtfBOySdZSXp8dOTMB0QEmxY3_ieHo2s1QPQuPT7g_qbldeqN4GIkVhoCCscQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
How would the pipe clips help? Not sure what surface I'd be nailing...
Central heating in my house was retrofitted before we moved in and the pipes creak when heated but also when you stand on the flooring above (still not sure if it's the pipes creaking or the flooring itself). It looks like the pipes haven't been installed low enough into the beams which means...
I was away for the weekend (garage was empty as I took the car) and came back to find condensation all over the ceiling and on the floor (floor has been painted in floor paint by the way so doesn't just soak down into the concrete).
Is that normal? Would moisture from the car have remained...
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I keep my car in there. That would be the main source of moisture in the garage. I wipe the car down if it's wet but there will always be some moisture that remains.
Hello, this type of thing has been answered before but the joists in my garage run side to side, as opposed to front to back so it leaves me with a slightly different problem.
My single garage is in a block of garages and is made up of a single skin of breeze blocks. It has a flat felt roof...
Thanks for the feedback. As I was hoping it seems simple enough to repressurise. Is it detrimental that someone has left that valve in the on position though? Could that have contributed to the current low pressure?
As for a decent filling loop, would that be one with a hand valve?
My parents have just moved into a new house and they have never had gas central heating before so I was showing them how to use it. I noticed that the water pressure in the system was a bit low so I googled how to repressurise their particular boiler (a Vaillant ecoTEC Pro 24).
This seemed...
Ok, I think I've got it now - here's what I've done where the switch was in the kitchen:
The supply live and neutral terminated in individual blocks with the earth connected to the back box (along with the earth wire from the outgoing immersion cable). The three outgoing wires terminated in...
So it would be better to remove that 3-way connector block in my previous photo (that all the outgoing wires are connected to) and just connect each colour wire to its own terminal block instead? Do I keep the earth cables as they are?
Thanks, but I'm happy with just blanking plates as I have plenty of other sockets at either end if I need them.
No I haven't done any continuity tests so it is just an assumption at the moment that it's the same cable. I've used a voltage tester on it and it's not live, but I'm aware that if...
Well here's what I've done, although I'm now not sure I've done it right after re-reading EFL's post!
Should I put the three outgoing wires in a 5-way block instead and add another earth cable to it with the other end running to the backbox with the other earths perhaps?
Incidentally, I'm...
