    From memory the invertors with the design error were made by SEW, The factory had over 50 of them on several production lines with one or two failures a week. Always at power up and most after an emergency stop had occurred when all power was removed. Ordinary stops did not affect them as the power was not removed.

    The resistor that failed was a W7 wire wound. The sign was a small melted spot in the vitreous glazing of the resistor.

    SEW never admitted it was a design error ( not in writing ) but did change the resistor in subsequent production.
